I want a sponge top tier with fruit cake layers underneath, is this possible?

In most cases a sponge top tier is possible, depending upon the design, sponge wedding cakes have to be produced the day before to ensure freshness. Obviously cakes that do not take a long production time to complete are more suitable. Also a heavy top decoration of sugar flowers and/or an ornament may not be suitable on a sponge top as bevelling of the cake edges may occur, especially in hot weather.
