Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all ranges of cakes designed, commissioned and purchased from David Cakes of Distinction Ltd.

Once an order form is signed, clients are entering into this contract.

Wedding and general celebration cakes require a 50% deposit to secure a booking.

All deposits are non returnable.

Cancelled cake order deposits cannot be transferred onto another order.

The balance for a wedding cake of any description is due 6 weeks before the required date.

The balance for a celebration cake under £150 is due on the day of collection

The balance for a celebration cake over £150 is due 7 days before the collection or delivery date

The balance for a celebration cake over £300 is due 6 weeks before the collection or delivery date

If you decide to pay your celebration cake balance in full when ordering, rather than the half deposit required to secure a booking and cancel your order, there will be no refund as your order will have been placed in our working schedule and therefore future bookings may have had to be declined in order to produce your cake.

All telephone bookings require full payment. If you cancel your order, there will be no refund as your order will have been placed in our working schedule and therefore future bookings may have had to be declined in order to produce your cake.
If you decide to pay your wedding balance earlier than 6 weeks before the required date, and cancel your order before this date, there will be no refund as your order will have been placed in our working schedule and therefore future bookings may have had to be declined in order to produce your cake.

Clients purchasing 'wedding cakes' and 'general celebration cakes' over £300 that are paid in full at the time of ordering are entitled to a 10% discount.

If a cake is cancelled, when purchased with the 10% discount offer, there is no refund; the cake will be ready for collection on the scheduled date.

If any order is transferred to another client from the original client, the item ordered cannot be changed in its description or altered in any way. All other conditions listed in this contract apply .

May we suggest, for peace of mind, you take out wedding insurance or a party insurance, to cover any problems that may arise.

To join our 'CAKE CLUB' requires a £50 non returnable payment.

The final balance for the ordered cake must be paid within 6 weeks before the required date. If you decide to pay your wedding balance earlier than 6 weeks before your date, and cancel your order before this date, there will be no refund as your order will have been placed in our working schedule and therefore future bookings may have had to be declined in order to produce your cake. An order that is cancelled within the 'Cake Club' is non transferable. Cake club members can place a cancellation on 'hold', but the cake must be collected within 12 months of the cancellation date.

We do not accept cheques. We accept cash and most major credit cards.

We have over 1500 designs to choose from within our extensive cake catalogues.

We bake all our cakes using the finest top quality fresh ingredients, producing cakes with over 16 different fillings and toppings available.

Cakes that are featured in a discount or promotional offer are available at the price quote and produced with the filling stated within the promotion.

We also produce Rich Fruit Cake in our Royal Wedding Cake Mix

As some designs are only practical produced in fruit and you may not like or want fruit cake, we can also produce any design as an artificial cake and supply you with sponge and assorted fudge filled cakes of your choice, ready for cutting. The price quote can be reduced if you only require an artificial cake with less slabs of cake for cutting rather than the entire amount of cutting cake that would be equivalent in the cake design chosen - (Price reduction quote offer not applicable on special promotional discounted cakes in The Great Cake Sale)

All tiered cakes are made with plastic cake pillar supports, so they will not collapse unless the supports are removed manually.

We do not advise large tiered cakes are set up in a Marquee unless the floor area is level and on a non bouncing flooring area.

Clients are invited to view their finished cake prior to collection

Once a cake is collected from our showroom or delivered to a venue, it is the responsibility of the person(s) transporting and delivering the cake to the venue. If you have employed David or Edward to deliver your cake, we take responsibility for delivery and set up, then the cake becomes the responsibility of the person(s) or venue.

Buttercream and fudge fillings in / on cakes will naturally start melting very quickly if stored or displayed in a hot enviroment - For summer celebrations and parties, we strongly recommend sponge cakes are displayed in an air condtioned enviroment and cut using our suggested methods. Be aware that during the winter months, an over heated venue can have the same effect on buttercream / fudge filled sponge cakes as a hot summer's day.

We always offer free technical advice are more than happy to discuss any questions you may have with you prior to you booking a cake - all with no obligation

A 15 minute personalised advisory consultation with David or Edward is available for free.

For a one hour appointment based personal design consultation with either David or Edward a chargeable fee of £100 will be added to your invoice which must be signed prior to the start of the consultation.

We provide a free suggested cutting and storage guide with all orders.

Clients that are not satisfied with a purchased cake must return the product within a reasonable time.

Your statutory rights are unaffected by these terms.
